When it comes to monitoring differential pressure, the conventional method is to use a dedicated differential pressure transducer. The differential pressure transducer automatically calculates the differential pressure and outputs a linear signal. This is great, but what if you need to measure the differential from two points that are not closely connected such as an HVAC control system? The typical solution would be to run piping to connect both ports of the differential pressure transducer. This adds a level of complexity and cost to an installation that is likely already complex and costly.
Utilizing two remote pressure transducers instead of one single differential pressure transducer allows for installation directly into the pipe that is being measured without being constrained to a single installation point. Additionally, users can measure both the differential between point A and B as well as the line pressures at each installation point, expanding the measurement capabilities. There are several HVAC control system products on the market that support this type of installation. Core Sensors manufactures pressure transducers specifically configured to perform well in these HVAC control systems.
