Core Sensors Leading Sensor Technology Combines Low Operating Strain and Excellent Non-repeatability with Robust Packaging
Hydraulic Pressure Transducers
Hydraulic systems face some of the most challenging mechanical and environmental conditions for pressure transducers
Configurable Pressure Transducer Platform
Hydraulic systems operate at extreme pressures — from mobile construction equipment and industrial presses to aircraft ground support and power generation — and demand pressure transducers that are both highly accurate and rugged enough to survive in the field. Core Sensors’ CS10 and CS10T series pressure transducers utilize bulk silicon MEMS technology bonded directly to stainless steel or nickel-alloy sensing elements, delivering reliable, repeatable measurements from vacuum to 45,000 PSI.
The highly configurable CS10 platform lets engineers find a true drop-in replacement for existing hydraulic sensors or specify a new design with the exact process connection, output signal, wetted material, and electrical interface required. For applications that also require fluid temperature monitoring, the CS10T provides independent pressure and temperature outputs from a single device — simplifying plumbing and wiring.

Why Bulk Silicon MEMS for High-Pressure Hydraulics?
Core Sensors employs bulk silicon MEMS strain gauges bonded to a stainless steel or nickel-alloy sensing diaphragm — no silicone oil fill, no O-rings, no secondary isolating membranes. The process fluid contacts only the metal sensing element directly, ensuring excellent media compatibility and eliminating the risk of oil-fill failure over high-cycle fatigue. This technology employs a very low operating strain, thus increased survivability in high pressure and high cycle applications and long-term stability, where thinner diaphragms can deform over time.
Combined with Core’s ASIC signal conditioning, every transducer is individually calibrated over pressure and temperature so the output signal is compensated and linearized out of the box.
- No silicone oil fill — eliminates oil migration failure mode
- >100 million pressure cycle rating
- 2X minimum overpressure minimum; 5X burst pressure rating minimum
- Individual ASIC compensation over pressure and temperature
- Pressure transducers 100% tested – no batch testing
Thick, robust diaphragm with extremely low operating strain allows for high overload protection and continued sensor operation.

Integral Pressure Snubber Option
Hydraulic systems are a primary source of destructive pressure spikes. Valve cycling, rapid actuator deceleration, and system fault events can generate transient pressures far exceeding the sensor’s rated proof pressure.
🛡️ Built-In Snubber — No Added Length, No Extra Fittings
Core Sensors can integrate a pressure snubber directly into the process connection of the CS10 and CS10T. By restricting the inlet orifice diameter, the snubber dampens pressure spikes before they reach the sensing diaphragm — protecting the sensor from catastrophic overpressure events while maintaining the same overall transducer length. No external snubber fittings are required.
Core also offers a 2× header option, which increases the diaphragm thickness to raise proof pressure to 4× the operating range — ideal for applications with extreme pressure surges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose bulk silicon MEMS technology for hydraulic applications?
Hydraulic pressure measurement can involve over-pressure conditions and pressure transient conditions. Bulk silicon MEMS technology in pressure transducers from Core Sensors operate at an extremely low operating strain. Combining high-output silicon strain gages with a thick metal diaphragm produces a great combination of technology for hydraulic measurement applications.
What is a pressure snubber and do I need one for my hydraulic application?
Core Sensors manufactures a welded stainless steel snubber as an integral option for various standard process connections. The snubber is suitable for applications where a pressure spike is common to a hydraulic circuit and above the rated pressure pressure and proof pressure of the transducer. If the purpose of the transducer is the measure the pressure transient, a pressure snubber is not a suitable option. In this case, a higher measurement range is recommended to account for the increased pressure.
What is the difference between the CS10 and CS10T for hydraulic applications?
The CS10 and CS10T pressure transducers offer the same performance for hydraulic applications.
The CS10T adds the additional benefit of temperature measurement from the same transducer. This can be critical in hydraulic applications where the hydraulic lines are exposed to extreme temperatures. For example, if a hydraulic system is exposed to extreme cold, a system might require it be shut down until suitable temperatures are reached. Having both pressure and temperature outputs from the same device reduces the number of sensors, the number of connectors, and hydraulic fittings or connection points.
Can I use the CS10 to replace my existing hydraulic pressure transducer?
The CS10 is one of the most highly configurable pressure transducers on the market, making it an easy choice for pressure transducer replacement. Whether it is replacement for a transducer on a piece of equipment or integration into it, CS10 industrial pressure transducers are designed and manufactured to survive hydraulic pressure measurement and the environmental conditions in which they are installed.
Are custom hydraulic pressure transducers available for OEM programs?
Yes, Core Sensors manufactures various products and configurations for OEM applications. Made in NJ, our CS10 pressure transducer is the building block for many standard, semi-custom, and custom pressure transducers. We partner with OEM’s to not only design a sensor solution that works, but also on the commercial side to ensure delivery schedules are met. This includes blanket orders, inventory agreements, and Kanban’s.
What is the standard lead time?
The CS10 pressure transducer is available in many configurations in 2-3 weeks ARO. In many cases, expedites are also available. Reach out to us with the configuration and requirements and we’ll do our best to find options that match your needs.
