Pressure Transducers with Cable
Pressure transducers are commonly specified with a cable electrical connection. While connectorized pressure transducers have their advantages (such as independent installation of sensor and wiring, serviceability, and time-savings), an integral cable is still a practical choice for users of pressure transducers.
Core manufactures pressure transducers with integral cable from various materials and with standard and non-standard lengths. With hundreds of standard configurations, Core can manufacture a product to your needs with a quick turnaround. For certain OEM applications, connectorized ends can be added to the pressure transducer to simplify sensor connectivity and create a plug-and-play installation.
Cable Transducers by Pressure Type
Vented Pressure Transducers with Cable
For pressure ranges of 500 PSI and below, Core Sensors offers vented cable pressure transducers across multiple product families. Within the cable jacket is a plastic vent tube that permits the flow of air to the inside of the sensor housing. This allows the sensor to correct for barometric pressure changes and improve system accuracy; venting becomes more critical as the full-scale pressure range is lower.
Sealed Pressure Transducers with Cable
For pressure ranges above 500 PSI and for special applications such as those requiring a higher ingress protection (IP67–IP69K), Core Sensors manufactures sealed pressure transducers. In this instance, the conductors are sealed from the outside environment with no correction for barometric pressure. Utilizing a high strength epoxy bond to the conductors creates a sealed cable, allowing Core to protect the sensor from harsh environments. No vent tube is used in sealed pressure transducer designs.
Differential pressure transducers use a sealed cable since the barometric pressure reference is not required.
Submersible Pressure Transducers with Cable
Submersible pressure transducers are commonly specified with cable due to their lower pressure ranges and the relative impact of barometric pressure changes. Core Sensors standardizes ETFE cable material for its submersible pressure transducers with a vent tube within the cable jacket. Standard cable lengths are available from a few feet to hundreds of feet. Core can also offer vent tube protection from water ingress and humidity directly at the vent.
Hazardous Location Pressure Transducers with Wires or Cable
Intrinsically safe and non-incendive pressure transducers are available in vented and sealed cable designs. Standard configurations are available with a ½” NPT male conduit fitting, for installation of a conduit over the cable to both protect it and meet the installation requirements of the hazardous location.
Explosion-proof pressure transducers are available with wire leads. Core’s explosion-proof portfolio is offered in sealed gage packages with the ½” NPT male conduit assembly completely sealed between the electronics of the sensor and the conductors.
Custom Pressure Transducers with Cable
As mentioned earlier, Core Sensors can manufacture a custom integral cable into the pressure transducer. Options include installation of an inline connector, armored cable, customized lengths, and customized jacket material. Core partners with customers to understand the application, operating environment, and installation of the pressure transducer to propose, design, and manufacture a pressure transducer solution suitable for the job.
