Differential Pressure Measurement in Non-incendive Areas

The CS54 Non-Incendive Differential Pressure Transducer is a high strength sensor designed for differential pressure measurements of liquids and gases in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. A 316L SS oil-filled sensor element provides excellent stability over a wide operating temperature range while offering corrosion resistance against various liquids and gases. Differential pressure ranges from less than 1 PSI and up to 1,000 PSI are available with 1/4″ MNPT or FNPT process connections.
Caution must be taken when installing and operating the CS54 in known Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. Please review the Non-Incendive Operating Instructions prior to installation.

No Conduit Installation Required!
In an effort to simplify installation in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations, the CS54 Non-Incendive Differential Pressure Transducer is offered with an integral Turck Minifast electrical connection.
When combined with a CSA Division 2 approved Turck cordset and a Turck Lokfast Guard, there is no requirement for conduit to be installed over the cable*. This not only makes installation easy but also makes switching out sensors less cumbersome. Core Sensors can supply all components as a complete package. A non-incendive device is designed so that, under normal operating conditions, it cannot generate enough electrical energy (arcing or thermal) to ignite a surrounding flammable atmosphere. Non-incendive ratings are only valid for Division 2 (or Zone 2) locations, where a hazardous atmosphere is present only under abnormal conditions — not for Division 1/Zone 1 areas where it's present continuously or intermittently. For intrinsically safe and explosion-proof differential pressure measurement, view the CS84 and CS64 respectively.
The Minifast electrical connection allows plug-and-play installation in non-incendive environments when installed with an approved cordset and lockout device. The sensor's mechanical installation and the wiring can be installed independently and then plugged together. This type of connection also simplifies removal of the differential pressure transducer during any maintenance.
The lockout device provides a warning to not disconnect the electrical connection when the sensor is powered/energized. It can be removed with a flathead screwdriver.
316L is compatible with a variety of liquids and gases from potable water to oil and natural gas. It is a common sensor material with excellent mechanical properties and chemical compatibility. The CS54 is designed for the measurement of liquids and gases and is configured as a wet/wet differential pressure transducer. Core Sensors does offer Hastelloy C276 material for more corrosive liquids and gases that have chlorides or high H2S content.
Both — filtration DP monitoring (tracking a filter's pressure drop to know when it needs servicing) and flow-related differential measurement are the two primary use cases the CS54 is built around. The combination of low-differential pressure accuracy and high static line pressure tolerance is what makes it work for both.
