The CS82 Intrinsically Safe Submersible Pressure Transducer is a high strength sensor designed for liquid level measurements in intrinsically safe locations. The CS82 features stainless steel (316L and 304) construction and an ETFE cable jacket for compatibility with a wide variety of liquids. Precision welds and a high strength Nylon strain relief prevent liquids from entering the transducer while a wide diameter vent tube quickly equalizes the barometric pressure within the sensor body to ensure accurate level measurements. The CS82 is available in various output signals including 4-20mA loop powered for long distance transmissions and voltage outputs for low power and low current consumption applications.
The CS82 Intrinsically Safe Submersible Pressure Transducer is also great for non-submersible applications. The standard nose cone can be substituted for 1/4″ or 1/2″ Male NPT threads for threaded installation, commonly where flooding is a concern such as onboard ship applications and underground storage areas.
The CS82 is a CSA-certified Class I, Division 1 Intrinsically Safe rated submersible pressure transducer when used with an approved current limiting barrier. This transducer is designed with a high strength 300 series stainless steel (304 & 316L) metallic construction, corrosion resistant ETFE cable jacket, and a Nylon strain relief for compatibility in a wide range of liquids.
The CS82 pressure transducer features a configurable design, allowing Core Sensors to tailor the transducer to your applications operating requirements. Have a limited voltage supply at your installation? No problem! The CS82 is offered in a low power configuration, capable of operating from an unregulated power supply of 3-5VDC and consuming 3mA or less of current. Need an extra long cable length? No problem! Core Sensors offers both standard and custom cable lengths, ensuring you have enough cable to simplify your installation

The vent tube breather plug is designed to be installed directly onto the vent tube of a pressure transducer. It features a GoreTex plug that is designed to keep moisture out, but permit venting of atmospheric pressure changes through the vent tube and directly to the sensor housing.

A submersible pressure transducer is designed to measure the pressure of liquids when fully immersed, typically to monitor liquid level in tanks, wells, lakes, or flood-prone areas. The CS82 features stainless steel construction and an ETFE cable jacket for compatibility and durability in harsh environments along with an intrinsically safe rating when used with a barrier.
The CS82 is used for fuel tank level measurement, water level sensing, and liquid depth measurement such as chemical totes in hazardous locations (Class I, Division 1), due to its CSA-approved intrinsically safe design and robust construction.
An intrinsically safe pressure transducer is engineered so that it cannot generate sparks or high heat, even in hazardous environments with flammable gases. For example, the CS82 series can be submerged in diesel fuel or in a tank with diesel vapors without generating 'arcs or sparks' due to the current limiting barrier and sensor design.
The CS82 measures level based on the liquid density and liquid height: the higher the liquid height, the higher the pressure exerted on the diaphragm. The CS82 features a wide diameter vent tube for barometric compensation, which reaches the back of the sensor to compensate for barometric pressure changes in the environment.
Differential pressure sensors measure the difference between two points, independent of atmospheric pressure. Gauge pressure sensors are referenced to barometric pressure, while absolute pressure sensors are referenced to a full vacuum.
The wetted materials are 316L stainless steel and 304 stainless steel, with an ETFE cable jacket for installation in challenging chemical and industrial environments. Contact Core Sensors regarding custom materials such as Hastelloy C276.
