What is the difference between a pressure transducer and pressure transmitter?
While the terms tend to be interchangeable, a pressure transducer refers to a pressure sensing device with an amplified voltage output signal whereas a transmitter would have a 4-20mA output signal.
What is a pressure snubber?
Pressure snubbers are designed to protect the pressure transducer diaphragm from a hydraulic event known as a pressure spike. These spikes can occur with the opening or closing of a valve or a system overload condition. Temperature spikes are also common in refrigeration applications. By reducing the inside diameter hole with the pressure snubber, the spike is dampened thus protecting the diaphragm measuring the pressure. Core Sensors offers integral pressure snubbers for its CS10 pressure transducers. This maintains the same overall length while protecting the sensor from catastrophic events. How do I choose a pressure transducer?
As you look at the ordering matrix, there are a number of options to choose from. Core Sensors manufactures a variety of configurations to increase your design flexibility both mechanically and electrically. Various factors such as the pressure, liquid or gas being measured, power supply, and most importantly, application, will dictate which options are most suitable for you.
Contact our office or send us an email with your design considerations and we’ll walk through the application and options.
What is a ratiometric output signal?
A ratiometric output signal is starts with a regulated supply voltage (typically 5VDC). The output signal (typically 0.5-4.5V) experiences proportional changes to the output signal based on a change to the supply voltage. A drop in 1% in supply voltage will lower the signal by an equal percentage. Ratiometric outputs are most common in automotive and HVAC/R industries due to their lower cost to build.
What is the CS10 leadtime?
CS10 industrial pressure transducers are available in 2-3 weeks ARO for most configurations. From there, we work with customers to create a release schedule that meets their needs. This can include partial shipments. Expedites are available in many situations. Reach out to the sales team to help configure a pressure transducer.
Can I create a custom pressure transducer version of the CS10?
While the CS10 offers a high level of configuration, customization is still possible. This can include mechanical, material, and electrical customizations to the pressure transducer. Additionally, the calibration can be customized for specific offsets or pressure types to accommodate existing designs or new setups. Do you have pressure transducer 3D models / STEP files?
Yes, we offer a variety of STEP files with combinations of various mechanical and electrical interfaces. Contact us for specific requests.
What is the difference between a two wire and three wire pressure transducer?
Two wire pressure transducers are typically associated with 4-20mA pressure sensors. This is a loop-powered device requiring a power and ground wire. Click our 4-20mA wiring page to learn more.
Three wire pressure transducers are voltage output sensors. The wires are power, signal and ground. The main difference between the two and three wire design is that the three-wire has an independent wire/conductor for the signal output. Voltage output signals are more common for low power sensing applications and shorter distance transmissions. Learn more on our voltage output wiring page.
Can I use this in refrigeration applications?
Yes, we can configure the CS10 pressure sensor with a compound gauge or sealed gauge pressure range to measure various refrigerants. We also stock a 1/4″ NPT to Schrader adapter for simple integration into your refrigeration system. For more information on the adapter, click here: Schrader Adapter
What are the differences between the pressure sensor materials?
Pressure sensors can be manufactured using various materials, creating increased design flexibility when measuring liquids and gases. Examples include hydrogen and seawater, which can create challenges for traditional 17-4 PH stainless steel. Here’s a list of some of our standard pressure sensor materials: Sensor Materials
