Non-Clogging Wastewater Level Transmitter

The CS15 is specifically designed for challenging wastewater environments like lift stations. Its non-clogging design with a protective steel cage prevents debris from interfering with measurements, while the Hastelloy C276 diaphragm resists corrosion from sewage and chemicals. The IP68 rating ensures reliable operation when fully submerged in lift station wet wells.

The main factors to consider are: pressure range/depth (confirm in PSI or inches of water column), output signal (choose between voltage or 4-20mA), and cable length (specify the cable length that aligns to the depth and termination at the controller).

The CS15 measures level by measuring the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid above the pressure transducer. Combined with the density of the liquid, a pressure is put onto the diaphragm, producing a linear output signal as the liquid height rises and falls.

The CS15 provides accurate level measurement signals that can be used by a control system to activate pumps. Available output signals include 4-20mA (most common for pump control), 0-5V, and 1-5V, which can be wired directly to PLCs, pump controllers, or alarm systems for automatic pump on/off control.

Calculate your maximum liquid depth in feet and multiply by 0.433 to get PSI (for water-based liquids), then add a 20-30% safety margin. For example, a 20-foot deep wet well would need approximately 8.7 PSI, so a 10 or 15 PSI range would be appropriate. Mount the CS15 near the bottom of the wet well, but high enough to avoid settling solids (typically 6-12 inches from the bottom). Ensure the sensor is away from pump discharge pipes to avoid turbulence affecting readings. The protective cage should face potential debris flow patterns.
